The Watch Room®
Expertise
The Watch Room® founder has long held a passion for watches and motorsport, which often go hand-in-hand and has been buying and selling luxury watches for over 30 years. Until now this has always been for his own personal collection, or sourcing watches for friends and family. Having spent the past 30 years in Banking, he has travelled and worked all over the world. In doing so he has built up an extensive network of contacts in the watch industry, which has created an expansive sourcing network for The Watch Room®.
Every watch we take into stock is checked by our master watchmaker for authenticity and function. You can rest assured that you are buying a high-quality genuine timepiece every time you shop with The Watch Room®. Our 12-month guarantee stands behind this.
Trust
Whether you are looking to buy your very first luxury watch or for something special to add to your collection, the watch itself is only part of the story. You need to fully trust the watch seller, the authenticity of the watch, and also enjoy the purchasing experience.
Many pre-owned luxury watch sellers are only about the transaction - getting as high a price as possible and then moving on to the next sale. At The Watch Room®, we value customer experience over everything. We don't just want to sell you an exquisite luxury new or pre-owned watch, we want to build a relationship with you for many years to come.
When you feel you are not wearing your luxury watch as often as you once did, sell it back to us or exchange it for another model.
Value
There are many places you can find luxury watches for sale, and whilst you may get the watch you are looking for, the buying experience and price you pay are often disappointing. At The Watch Room®, we are all about personal service and good value.
Many watch sellers claim to offer good prices but do they really? Or, do they just follow the market and sell each watch for as high a price as the market will sustain. Sure, that's standard business economics but it doesn't have to be that way.
At The Watch Room®, we appreciate that buying a luxury timepiece can be a considerable outlay and we want to build a relationship with you that will last for years to come. This starts with offering outstanding timepieces and selling them to you at a price that is genuinely lower than typically found in the market. Try us and you will see. This is what we do.
Our Views On Polishing Pre-owned Luxury Watches
The subject of whether or not one should polish a luxury watch is a very hot topic and typically comes with a binary response – people are usually FIRMLY against it or for it (and in our experience, more people are against it – especially watch collectors and aficionados). Luxury watches often come with several different finishes, from highly polished to brushed and are also often made from multiple types of metal. Polishing techniques and materials used therefore vary between finishes and this is why if you are in the camp that likes a highly polished watch, you should never try this at home. It’s easy to watch a few YouTube videos, buy a Cape Cod cloth (other metal polishing cloths are available) and give it a go – but do so at your peril.
It is very easy to damage a watch when polishing it and whilst the act of polishing a watch will undoubtedly give it a bit of a shine, what’s important to remember is in doing so you are actually removing metal from the watch and as such it is 100% irreversible.
Watches can easily become over-polished and when this happens you start to lose the crisp and precise angles at the edges of the bracelet or case. When that happens, you have permanently altered the watch and the resale value will be negatively affected.
At The Watch Room®, we are firm believers in never polishing a luxury watch for purely cosmetic reasons. The natural marks that accumulate over time are part of the character of the watch and show that it has lived. Besides, it won’t take much wearing of your newly polished watch for it to accumulate new scratches and so polishing is an ever-decreasing circle. We do understand that some see this differently but that is a personal choice and we will leave that up to you. We will never routinely polish a watch before selling it. You get to make that choice for yourself.
You may already know this, but if not will be interested to learn that the scratches, dings, fading lume, fading bezel colour etc actually has a name. It’s called “patina”. A pre-owned luxury watch should come with some patina. It is normal and expected.
