In 1868, with the vision of creating Swiss-made pocket watch movements for the American market, watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones (an American engineer and watchmaker) founded the International Watch Company (or IWC as we now call them) in the town of Schaffhausen in Switzerland (that's where the last bit of its name originates), and the rest is a glorious 150 year history. In 1936, IWC created the first of its Pilot’s watches. The Pilot family was to become emblematic of IWC, with the Big Pilot taking pride of place in the collection.
The beautiful IWC Big Pilot's Watch Edition "Le Petit Prince" pays tribute to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, best-selling author, famed pilot and adventurer. His book "Le Petite Prince" has captured the hearts of young and old since its initial publication in 1936. Engraved on the back of the case is the little prince with his coat and sword.
