Panerai was founded way back in 1860 as a Swiss watch shop in Florence, Italy. In the 1930s that they started to make watches, and at that time they were actually made by Rolex for Panerai and used to supply the Royal Italian Navy. It wasn't until 1993 that Panerai started selling watches to the general public. Things ramped up when they became part of the Richemont Group in 1997 and production moved to Switzerland. Since then they have made some really beautiful watches and their own in-house movements.
The keen-eyed amongst you may have first seen the Panerai Luminor Submersible Amagnetic 47mm (PAM00389) on the wrist of Sylvester Stallone as he punched, kicked, and recklessly blasted his way through The Expendables 3 in 2014. This is no petite dress watch then! This handsome timepiece also boasted a few firsts for Paneria: first ceramic bezel in a Luminor model and first anti-magnetic Panerai watch.
